NAVAJO TUTORS: PRACTICE WITH NATIVE SPEAKERS
My method to learning a new language is to speak it from the beginning. I recommend the following tool for this:
Italki - On Skype, it links you with native Navajo speakers for spoken practice. You may pay for (affordable) one-on-one video sessions with Navajo teachers or discover a free language exchange partner! This link will take you directly to the site's Navajo instructors.
LEARN HOW TO READ AND WRITE IN NAVAJO
The Navajo Language: The Elements of Navajo Grammar with a Dictionary - This book is a source of vocabulary and grammatical information that is indespensable for teachers and students of the Navajo language. Beginning with an explanation of the Navajo sound system, the publication is followed by a 125 page long outline of Navajo grammar. The work presented is also composed of a two part dictionary: 247 pages Navajo – English and 101 pages English – Navajo.
English-Navajo Vocabulary Notebook - English-Navajo vocabulary notebook is a structured language notebook to learn Navajo vocabulary in an organized way. There are over 2500 words in English on the left pages about 68 different topics. Next to the English word there is a blank space where you have to write the Navajo translation.
